The primary objectives of the action are to augment academic and civil societal dialogue between the EU and Turkey through a joint degree master’s programme in European Media and Cultural Studies (the first of its kind in Turkey; the language of
instruction
will be English) and other collaborative activities, and to develop and disseminate knowledge and understanding about Turkey in the EU, specifically in Germany, and about the EU in Turkey.
The specific objective of this action is to establish and sustain long-term cooperation between the EU and Turkey through the joint master’s degree programme mentioned above, and through summer schools, workshops, and conference activities.
This action, by focusing on the establishment of long-term sustainable cooperation and partnership between Turkey and the EU member states, will address the “scientific interaction” and “networking activities” through discussion of
thematic areas in
economics, law, social sciences, and history.
The action will involve activities related to research and exchange of information on media economics, regulation and market analysis in the European context; intellectual property rights and laws and the EU’s Media Legislation and Policies; cultural studies, gender studies, migration, comparative studies, and civil society; and the theory and history of European media and culture.
In addition, the action will also address “multiculturalism” in relation to citizenship and migration, media portrayals of immigrant Turks in Germany, as well as scholarly interaction and exchange of knowledge and understanding between European and Turkish scholars and students.
The action’s objective of
establishing
a joint master’s degree programme will involve the promotion and research of the effects of Turkey’s accession to EU, especially in media and culture sectors, following the stipulations of the thematic area of “Institutions and Policies of European Union, EU Enlargement and Effects of Turkey’s Accession to EU.”
Among the priorities in the “Turkey Accession Partnership and National Programme Implementing EU Acquis (NPAA),” the action will refer to the domestic development of civil society; open communication and cooperation between Turkey and the EU; the issues related to information society and media and to education and culture through cultural diversity; and equal opportunities and rights. |
